    FAQ

Where Can I Get A Copy of The MCM Feature Film?

You can get DVD and BluRay copies from the MCM Shop:

The Official Home of Mighty Car Mods. Merchandise, DVDs, stickers, magazine, tee shirts, music and more from the hit YouTube Show Mighty Car Mods featuring Marty and MOOG.

Can I Get The Episodes on DVD?

Yes. Season 1, Season 2, Season 3, Season 4 and Turbos&Temples are all available on our online store. The DVDs have bonus material and sometimes extra episodes. Postage is included worldwide at no cost.

The Official Home of Mighty Car Mods. Merchandise, DVDs, stickers, magazine, tee shirts, music and more from the hit YouTube Show Mighty Car Mods featuring Marty and MOOG.

How Do You Fund The Show?

We both work full time jobs. People purchasing merchandise helps us with costs and sometimes we are lucky enough to receive some sponsorship.

Why Don't You Do More Episodes?

MCM is a very exciting part of our lives, but we both work full time jobs, and have commitments other than the show, including family, work and other creative projects. We also spend a lot of time working on our own cars, and don't have time to film everything. Often when working on our own cars we just want to get the job done, rather than video every thing we do which takes much longer.

How Long Does It Take To Make An Episode?

Depending on what the subject is, a typical episode will take from 2-4 weeks. We come up with the initial idea, then buy all of the parts, and then film over a week or two. Then we'll write the music, edit it, and then do voice overs and an audio mix. This all has to be done outside of work hours as we work full time jobs so its done early in the morning and late at night. To make a 5 minute episode we'll shoot about 2-3 hours of footage, depending on the subject.

    Who Actually Makes The Show?

We do everything ourselves. It is literally a two person production team (MOOG & Marty) We set up the camera and then jump in front of it once it's recording. We are very lucky to have IRONGAV who is an incredible designer and artist in his own right, who has created our unique intro sequences since the very beginning of MCM. He also comes on board once or twice a Season to direct his own sequence such as The Zombie Episode. We're also very lucky to have friends and people from the forum who help us by appearing in episodes, and help run the forum and organise meets.

What Gear Do You Use To Make The Show?

We have a variety of cameras including DSLRs and ProResHD cameras. We use 8 cameras all up including GoPro cameras that we can mount on our cars. Most of the episodes are shot with a Video Camera as opposed to a DSLR as DSLR's are not fast enough and nimble enough to work around and under cars while we are shooting. We do all our post production with Macs using Final Cut Studio and iMovie. Sound and music is done in ProTools.

When Will The Next Episode Go Up?

Because we are making the show in our own time, the rate that episodes go up varies depending on what else we are doing, and the content of the episode. For example. the video on building the show car took around 6 months, in contrast to a detailing episode can be shot entirely in a day. Best thing to do is keep your eye on the MCM Facebook as we update there what is happening. We would love to do two videos a month, and certainly last season we uploaded over 25 videos in a 12 month period.

    How Many People Watch MCM

Its hard to get exact numbers as people also watch the show via iTunes, but on YouTune we have over 400,000 subscribers on our main channel, and almost 100,000 on our second channel MCMTV2.

Can I pay you to feature a product on the show?

No. We don't take money for featuring a product on the show. If you would like to promote your business then contact the editor of the MCM Magazine where you can discuss advertising [email protected]

    How Did You Guys Meet?

We met at a recording studio. Marty had a Legacy GT and I had a Type-X 180. I took Marty for a drive, almost crashed and we were friends ever since.

Do You Guys Have Any Qualifications?

We both went to university but did not study in the automotive industry. We are not mechanics, or engineers and have no formal automotive qualifications. We are self taught and learn as we go in our home garage.

How Did You Learn To Work On Cars?

We broke lots of them. And then tried to fix them. That is the best way of learning. Forums have also been great and have loads of great info.

    Do You Have Merchandise?

Yes. We sell Tshirts, Magazines, Vinyl Cut Stickers, Music & DVD's. You can find them here:

The Official Home of Mighty Car Mods. Merchandise, DVDs, stickers, magazine, tee shirts, music and more from the hit YouTube Show Mighty Car Mods featuring Marty and MOOG.

I purchased a copy of the Mighty Mods Magazine. Where is it?

MCM Magazine is digital download only. Once your payment goes through, a download link will be sent to your registered PayPal email address. Check your junk mail folder if it does not appear in your main inbox.

Where Can I Find MOOG's Music And The Music From The Show?

MOOG writes 100% of the music in Mighty Car Mods and has done since the beginning. Occasionally when a group of songs are popular we'll upload them to iTunes. Sometimes there is a special run of hard copy CD's available for sale which you can find on the MCM shop when they are available. CD is the best quality versions of the music available. The music is created specifically as driving music, to complement and enhance your own driving experience.

MOOG - 'The Sea Brings Rivalry' Album

MOOG - 'Turbos & Temples Soundtrack'

MOOG - 'Zombie Apocalypse Soundtrack' (From the Zombie Car Special)

MOOG - 'Ride' Single (From Sydney Motorshow Video)

MOOG - 'The Pursuit of Speed' Single (From the Need For Speed Video)

'1978' - ALBUM (chilled electro vibes for late nights and sunday mornings: and used by pick up artists everywhere - yes seriously)

If you do not have iTunes there are limited songs available as direct Digital Downloads which you can find here in the 'Digital Section'

The Official Home of Mighty Car Mods. Merchandise, DVDs, stickers, magazine, tee shirts, music and more from the hit YouTube Show Mighty Car Mods featuring Marty and MOOG.

Can I use MOOGs Music On My Own Videos??

You can download any music you like from iTunes and use it on your videos but there is a chance that you will be breaching copyright (this is the case for any music you buy online and then use yourself)

We do not have a problem with you using the music for your own personal videos of your car and road trips, but you must credit the song in the video including the name of the song, and artist, and include the original iTunes link in your description. This is right thing to do with any music that you use and helps support the artist. The use of any of MOOGs music on any commercial applications like promo videos and sponsored videos is strictly prohibited. The use of the music on any videos deemed offensive is also prohibited.

Is There A List Where I Can Find All The Episodes?

Youtube is phasing out its "Shows" category so the best place to see all the episodes is on the official MCM channel.

Mighty Car Mods is an independent automotive series created by a couple of friends, Marty and Moog who started filming videos on Martys mum's driveway in 2007. They've come a long way since then but still have an unwavering focus to show their viewers fantastic automotive projects that they can do themselves at home. The MCM boys make cars, and they make movies. In fact they do it all, including the music, editing, and automotive with some help from their friends along the way. Being completely independent, the boys don't have to answer to anyone except their own creative spirit and their focus is on quality over quantity. It doesn't matter if you have a brand new turbo charged beast, or an old banger found in your grandfathers shed. Mighty Car Mods openly embraces anyone who wants to better themselves and their cars through involvement with the MCM Community.

There is also a list on Facebook

What Kind Of Car Should I Buy?

This is a common question we get, and it is difficult to answer without knowing your budget and the kind of driving you do. We'd rather you did your own research and made the choice based on your needs and budget. You could also try making a post on the "What Car Should I Buy" forum to get advice from other MCM Members.

I Saw A Mod On Your Show But My Friend Told Me To Do It Differently?

We are not an authority on car modification and we are not qualified mechanics. We offer a guide that will hopefully inspire people to do more research and more work on their car themselves. Don't ever do anything to your car that you're not comfortable with and check the legality of all modifications with an expert or professional in your area.

My Car Is Not Running Properly. Help!

Unfortunately we don't have time to go through every email looking for details about why your car is not running right. Please post up the details on the forum and the MCM crew can try and help you there.

    Did You Get My Email?

We do try and read every email that we receive but currently MCM receives hundreds of messages each day. While we can't reply to them all, we do try and read them.

We do not see or read Private Messages sent through YouTube because there are too many.

    Can You Mod My Car?

No. The idea of our show is that you do it yourself.

How Can I Support The Show?

You can help the show by spreading the word and telling your friends about it. Consider linking one of your favourite videos on your Facebook wall or asking your friends to check out the show. Buying a tshirt, DVD, or buying the music also helps us cover some costs and these are the best ways you can help us. If you are knowledgeable then consider becoming a member on our forum and helping others with less experience. This is a great way to help the MCM community, because MCM is not just about cars - most importantly it's about people.

In theory this should save you guys a lot of headaches and frustration but as a wise man once told me:

"Common sense is not so common."

Very honest and thorough write up MOOG!

EDIT: Thanks Rake, couldn't quite remember the "logistics" of the phrase

            Perhaps an addition..
"When's the next episode?" I see that on facebook posts all the time. Easy answer: Visit the forums regularly and hope MOOG feels generous enough to tell us when the next ep is coming up.

EDIT: Also something about possible TV contracts, and TopGear Aus. Always being brought up too.

Might want to add the whole V8 Holden/Ford/Ute discussion somewhere here. As 'australian' as these cars are, it is not the purpose of the show: best bang for your buck= jdm cars. Or if your in favor then disregard my comment.

Seen a lot of this on facebook and here in the forums now.

                  Also @Robert

You could pm MOOG about it but he has a lot of photo gear. If you want to know what kind of camera he uses well I'm pretty sure he likes his Canon 7d.

That being said, if you don't know much about about digital slr's and want to start photography maybe start with something smaller and take a course regarding using dslr's or photography in general. Learning about lighting, aperture, noise, gain, white balance...etc can really bennefit your photo's even with a crap camera. Also if you buy a dslr and dont know how to use it then it can even make your pics worse! not to mention you need certain lenses for different occassions and such and thats $$

Off topic now back to FAQ
