Upgrades planned
Want to go back to a case with a window since the pc isn't on the ground anymore with my new desk. Am planning for a red/black theme, motherboard and RAM where already in this theme by coincidence, the graphics cards are red/black aswell and I wanted them to be MSI just like the motherboard. Also MSI happens to have this really badass looking black/red illuminated SLI bridge. To make sure I'm not running into bottleneck issue's with the new graphics cards I'm going to upgrade to a Core i7 when funds allow.

Processor: Intel Core i7-4770
Case: Coolermaster Mastercase Pro 6 (red)
Graphics: 2x secondhand MSI GTX970 Gaming 4GB (card #1 arriving today, card #2 hopefully before the end of the week).

Then ditch the Aerocool unit since the Mastercase Pro 6 has a closed front and get new casefans that fit the black/red theme.

Future plans
Get rid of the 2TB storagedrive and put all my stuff on my 19" rackmounted 4x4TB Qnap network storage. Get a bigger solid state drive and replace the Spinpoint F3 as its almost 7 years old.

Sleeving cables yourself is a nightmare as it ruins your fingers. The ribbon cable in the second shot is the link between the main sound card and the "daughter" surround card. (xonar HDAV H6) I've since taken it out as I don't use it, opting to use optical out instead as it isn't susceptible to ground loops. Only reason I keep the sound card is because of ASIO support.

Still need to tidy up the wiring to the cards, but here's a quick pic of the cards. Had a bit of an issue with artifacts when playing games with SLI enabled, cleaning the SLI contacts and the connectors on the SLI bridge fixed that.

Totally forgot to update my situation. H440 New Edition came in a while ago. Took 2 days to build (yes that is a long time, I'm OCD on cable management and I had some trouble mounting the radiator the way I wanted to)

Next on the list is replace the watercooler with an NZXT unit, because RGB illuminated NZXT logo to fit the theme. Might have to wait a while for that to happen though, simracing rig is first on the list now

Upgraded my x79 machine to a Ryzen threadripper 1920x which has helped considerably with encoding work. Day to day stuff and games perform similarly. Clocked the cpu up to 3.975GHz and run 32GB of memory at 3200MHz C14. I also bagged an RX Vega 56 to replace the GTX 780 before prices went absolutely psychotic. Flashed the gpu with a 64 bios and it clocks up to 1680/1100Mhz whilst using only 1075mV and performs around the same level as a decently clocked 1080 or vega 64.

Replaced the old corsair tx650 power supply at the same time.


Decided on the gigabyte aorus motherboard which seems to work pretty well.

Here's an uptodate, better photo of my current setup. Recently got rid of all mechanical harddrives, 250GB SSD for Windows install, 500GB SSD for Program Files, 2000GB SSD for bulk storage. All are Samsung 850 EVO units.


Below the graphics cards are 2 of the SSD's, 250GB on the right, 2000GB on the left. The other 500GB unit was added later and is hidden behind the drive cages.
