  • Midwestern US Unofficial Meet 2013?

Who is interested in meeting up in the Midwest for an Unofficial event?

I'm thinking spring or summer 2013, in the major cities of either Chicago, IL, St. Louis, MO, Kansas City, MO, or Whichita, KS. Maybe as far out as Denver, CO depending on where all the people are coming from. Local groups can organize their own caravans, and we can get group rates in a hotel as well as rent the confrence room so vendors, shops, and other people can set up a booth.

I was thinking that a good criteria for a meet would be:
    1) Closest to the highest concentration of attendees
    2) A reasonable price/place to put up visitors from out of the area
    3) Within a reasonable driving distance of a track or dragstrip (Autocross on private property works too)
    4) Nearby a shop that would be willing to make dyno runs at a reduced price if we're bringing in a large group just to benchmark cars and educate those who have never done it before.

    What do you guys think?
I honestly love my car, I hate the fact that everywhere I go people try to race it. I don't need to prove who's faster in a straight line, the track slips will tell me who is a better driver.

It would need to be the time of year where school is out, i'll update this post when i get home from the gym.

edit: Okay, so the main issue here is how spread out all of us guys in the states are. Most people would have to drive 10 hours or so to get to a meet with 10 or so people, given the current distance between most of us. There'll be a MCM NA/CANADA meet 2013, that much is sure, tho it'll probably be in quebec, canada. If you want a closer meet, it'll have to be a regional thing, so for example- we have a few members in texas, a few in missouri, a few in minnesota, one in south dakota, that sort of thing.

I'm just not so sure that everyone wants to drive 10+ hours for an unofficial MCM meet is all.

Well, if thats the case, why don't we start organizing a caravan to the MCM Quebec meet? I have a passport, so I can get in and outta the country no problem.
        Anyone else have thoughts?

I'd probably have my own ride, and I can have 1 riding shotgun... as my backseat is pretty much for insurance purposes of saying its a four seater. (Its pretty useless.)
So you can fit 8, plus me and a passenger. If we can round up a fully loaded group, or if others want to drive their own rides and follow us, then we have a beginning of a good plan.

hmmm a trip to Canada would be cool, i always wanted to visit. If i have enough money i will totally go (depending on when it is, loacation, etc....), and my truck can fit 6 but 5 is easier and comfier.

My supra is MAAAD comfortable to road trip in. So I should be set, and I'll set aside a few hundred over the course of 6-8 months strictly for travel/beer. (The drinking/casino age in Canada is 18 for those who don't know)

But I don't see why we can't all drive up together and have cameras rolling. Document it and release it? That would be fun.

Yeah, but i'm pretty sure you actually need to be a Canadian resident for that to apply to you, the age thing. Maybe someone else knows more, if so, please chime in.

As far as the time of the year, if it's anything like this years north american meet, it'll be in mid July.

I asked my family in Montreal about the drinking/casino age. it is 19, and it is for everyone in the country, whether a native or tourist. As long as we either call a cab or appoint a DD, it's game on!

Maybe do it around the same time as subiefest so that way people on the east cost could stop by?

Just popping to shed a little light

Having the meet somewhere where you have a local is essential to the meet as you're able to maximize your time properly and see only the best stuff and avoid the crummy things because you have local knowledge.

I have no idea what is planned for next year nor do I know where it will be but it will be somewhere where a MCM member lives.

Additionally the meet itself took around 4-5 months of planning and organizing, plus you want to give people time to get book off vacation!

And last but not least you will be spending money for the meet. I spent about $400 out of my pocket organizing the meet.

I'm mentioning all this because [email protected] mentioned something about a meet next september, which is quite far away mind you.

Also the legal drinking and gambling age here is 18 and that is why (montreal) is such a huge tourist attraction to many americans because of our nightlife, younger drinking age and attractions!
