  • Siren676's MX5

Picked up my new car today. So much fun to drive especially in the wet.
    Its a 1990 Mazda MX5 NA6C 5spd manual.

Only done 163,000k's and i got it for $2700

Needs a little bit of work done to it, mainly the roof needs replacing (came with a brand new one, just needs to be installed) and the clutch will need changing at
some point, accidentally went from 2nd to 5th and the revs didnt drop

Plans will be to lower it and chuck on my OG oldskool wheels and just drive it as its rather fun to drive as it is.

Wooooooooooooooooooooooooo! Looks just like mine but in better condition and less km's Such a fantastic car, as long as the OG oldschool wheels are light weight it should be awesome. These cars really don't like heavy wheels, I wouldn't go above 15".

Sell that extra soft top you got with it. Buy a factory hardtop.

I would sell the soft top but i need it as the current one has a big hole in it and the rear window has become separated at the top.
Cheapest hard top i can find is $800 but its at the other end of the country and the wrong colour

Your car must be nuts to drive. The oldskool wheels are around 6kg each, would this be too much?

I haven't driven mine for 6 months but hopefully this week I'll be able to test drive it a bit.
6kg is fine, pretty good actually. I just bought some 13x8 wheels which are 5kg

Also I think you should keep the soft top, it's awesome fun to have the top down on a nice day. I didn't really want a convertible when I bought mine, I just wanted a great handling 2 seater RWD sports car but the first time I put the top down it was just amazing. Now it's one of my favourite things about the car.

When i went for the test drive with it i had the top down, i think it was one of the main things which made me get the car. That and it was rather tail happy in the wet

I'll be picking up the new soft top with the starlet tomorrow as there wasnt enough room in the car to get it home.
