  • PotatoSmashers '82 Toyota KE70 Build

Just picked it up today for $300 from around the corner, a bit of a bargain. Anyway it's far from perfect at the moment but I'm coming up with a list of mods and repairs to turn it into a bit of a beast.

    - Fix all the panels
    - Respray white
    - Colour Match Wheels
    - Fix battery connectors
    - Clean and re-trim interior
    - 4age conversion (eventually)
    - Shave side indicators
    - Fix windscreen wipers
    - Respray bumpers black
    - Fix boot Rust
    - Aftermarket steering wheel
    - Switch panel
    - Buy new wheel nuts
    - Black carpet
    - New gear nob
    - Install Tacho Gauge

But please chuck idea's out there for me

Wow, I'd be keen to keep on eye on what you do with this beast.

Here's a photo of one around my area.

Its got a 4k-c with manual trans. Dont have any idea if a 4age would bolt up. So any reference material would be great

They told me I could be anything,
            so I became a nugget.

I do Range Rover, Volvo, Peugeot and Jaguar parts for Sydney. I can also help with VW, Honda and BMW parts.

I took them off today and promptly put them in the bin. Needs a good clean out and the seats need to be re-trimmed. The foam doesn't look too bad surprisingly.

Bit of an update on what I did today, I pulled out the JVC head unit that wasn't connected to anything. Thick cable running to the boot suggests the car once had a sub in it. Pulled all the cable for that out and just more tidying up.

Below is where the head unit was mounted as you can see it's pretty butchered. Was thinking spray the blue a matte black (eventually have all the dash matte black) and cutting out the entire silver piece and replacing with a recessed carbon fiber panel. I then wanted to make it like a switch panel because I would eventually like to do some racing with this car.

Also thinking of shaving the side indicators, what do you guys think?

Hopefully getting this into the garage tomorrow so I can get properly set up.

I don't really see the point of them, it would make the panel look cleaner.

I totally agree. I'm going to shave mine on my Jetta. I was thinking of adding vents where the light goes on the Jetta. Like this.

I think it would look good on your car too. Plus it could help keep stuff cooler like the engine bay, or brake system, depending on how or if you ran ducting.
