  • Raisin's first ride.

Hey all, so last night I went and picked up my first registered/drivable car!

It is a 2005 Opel Corsa C SRi (aka Holden Barina SRi) with just over 35,000km on the clock. It has been looked after quite well and aside from some scratches and a doorbang dent on the drivers side it's in perfect condition. For the size it goes surprisingly well with the 1.8l engine also found in the larger Astra G and Zafira models sold here in Aus.

I haven't had a chance to wash it properly yet (that will come on the weekend), but here is a quick picture I took on my phone in the parking lot at work.

No worries any plans for it yet? I'm also on Opelaus but haven't commented on your thread there yet

          Haha awesome!

I'm not rushing into anything with the car for now, but I will probably work towards improving the suspension/handling first. The reason I am in no rush though is because up until now I've been driving a 1.2 liter 3-cyl Micra K13 so comparatively this is a rocket ship haha. Once I feel completely acclimated to the car though I will start touching on things I feel need improvement. I think getting it as close as possible to neutral handling and better brakes will be the first two to happen though.

Next order of business I think is naming the car. Have to come up with something for my first car. :P

Also, 60 posts and I have my "Calipers Painted +25kw" which is a funny co-incidence because this car has red calipers already. Must be where it gets all that go from. ^^

Agreed! That's why I wanted this specific year. The MY05 model had a different body kit and more colour coded parts than the previous models. Looks a lot better IMO than the other years.

I took a quick walkaround video today. Ignore the talking haha, I am going to be showing the video to friends and family overseas, most of whom aren't very car savvy.

Haha, I want to keep the car pretty clean looking overall so as to draw minimal attention from cops. It is my daily for commute and business travel so reliability and minimal police attention is very important to me currently. Although I will be looking around for some lightweight rims that look good for it when these tires are done. (They have roughly 10,000km left in them I'd say) From there on out, it will be a matter of subtle attention to detail and OCD maintenance.

yeah thats understandable, my friend got stopped the other day in his old audi 90 because he was doing a bit of zig zag in his lane, they thought he was drunk/on drugs/ or on the phone, he wasnt drunk or on drugs or on the phone..they searched his car and even called in some dogs to search the car hahah XD

Haha bummer. I imagine my boss wouldn't be very pleased if I was held up like that during work hours.
