Did you get a measure of your AFR during pulls?
Cool, I've been wanting to buy a dremel for a long time. This is a good excuse for me to buy one and it will be a learning curve.

Lean AFR isn't dangerous, the engine has no throttle and is naturally aspirated. it can only get as much air as it can suck in. judging by the smoke, it's definitely not lean hahah!

Got some pics of one of my spare cylinder heads. It looks terrible but it's just needing a good deep clean and a full rebuild.

There's probably not much scope for fitting larger valves. Then again a few mm can make all the difference

      14iewzo.jpg

      The exhaust ports are TINY

      r89myq.jpg

The inlet ports are at a good angle too

That's all for now, I've been repairing a new bumper and it's ready to be wrapped yellow and fitted.

Hmm. Looks good and the head is flat so your only option there is a good skim and polish. The inlet angle is good but polishing could only help. that exhaust looks too small and could be opened up to the heaer inlet size. I can see the gasket marks. I wonder about that intake valve. It looks bit small. no throttle. Interesting. Havent actually seen one with no air valve.

okay so I'm looking to get myself an oil cooler and to start monitoring my oil temps. I should be okay with a cheap one won't I? everyone likes eBay.

Unless anyone has any other recommendations?

Probably looking for a 7 or 10 row cooler maybe about 30cm long, with pipes and sandwich for behind the filter.

ALIEXPRESS FTW. Cheap new and usually good quality. Just wash it good first make sure no worker left any media or anything like that in there. Ebay and auction sites are great too. MY esprit stuff is all the cheapest of the best I can get!

Aye, an oil cooler isnt the sort of thing you need to spend a fortune on to get something with a brand name as a lot of stuff from AliExpress isnt much different to the expensive stuff.

Might take a while to arrive so if your in a rush, try and source one in the UK on ebay.

Yeah some of the direct purchases from China take a few months to arrive normally. UK seller on eBay I think will be my best bet. I haven't even looked at all this week, I've been really lazy

Well the UK is pretty far away from China! haha

Updates? Yes I've got the worst hole in my exhaust so I'm going to fix that tomorrow. It's right at the bottom of the downpipe.

I've got new bumpers to fit this week, just waiting on the correct colour of plastic wrapping material to arrive - then more exhaust adjustment at the tip because the bumper sits a little bit lower.

It's getting into warmer weather so a lot of my spare time will be going on my Rallye too! Saying that, 2 days ago I couldn't get any of my doors open as they were frozen shut! I had to pour warm water on the seals.

Quick update: Bumpers are now fitted, had to make the front bumper fit as there's no brackets! Bolts and cable ties it is!

The rear bumper sticks out at the rear, so I'll need to drill holes and get the full body kit fitted.

Made myself a side exit exhaust

Okay so the standard exhaust is back on haha silence is music to my ears!

Major service tomorrow, it's 25 degrees c forecast tomorrow in the shade which is too warm for me. Sun comes up at 04:41 so I'll be out as early as I can and get the heavy work out the way. Why?

Major Service, I've had to put modifying on hold as my new car isn't arriving until later in the year so I need to keep this car reliable.

Gear and engine oil with air and oil filters too.
                          New clutch cable
                          New exhaust wire gasket
                          Timing belt
                          Clutch and a gearbox change
                          New front control arms too.

Every bolt I take off is getting greased when it goes back on!

The brakes are already new as are the skinny wheels and tyres. (TSW alpine wheels with Uniroyal 155R13 tyres)

I stripped my car out so much it now has 49/49 weight distribution.

                            News update!

Oil cooler now on it's way! Should be here tomorrow but Yodel are delivering it so...

Once that's fitted, I can fit my oil pressure and temp gauge into the car. Run some conduit so I can get wires through from the engine bay into the cabin more easily when I inevitably add more gauges and switches.

Maybe got a turbo on its way too, once that arrives I'll need to choose an intercooler and get some pipes made up. I'll probably just go for 2" stainless or even mild steel pipe that's thin walled. that way I can weld it myself.

I'm going to try and use the standard centre section and rear silencer and see how much boost I can go before it becomes too restrictive.

I took some pictures of when I had the engine out, I would have taken more but I was too busy! Yodel didn't deliver my parcel so I'll have to wait until Monday now

                                Engine coming out:

                                2h2gynp.jpg

I've drilled some holes to allow extra wiring and pipes into the cabin. So I'll fit my gauges and run some wires tomorrow.

I stripped my car out so much it now has 49/49 weight distribution.
