Great stuff man, can't wait to see more! It should be a torque monster when done!

A new format is coming, going back on what I've said.

I will be turbocharging this car, but this time for a purpose. There's a small series of sprint races local to me called Super Lap Scotland. It's a bit like (a friend described it as baby time attack) time attack but based mostly at Knockhill Racing Circuit, with a round at Croft Circuit in the North of England.

Cars are put into classes based on power at the flywheel, and weight including the driver - which are further divided into Road Series Production, Modified and Sports Libre.

So, naturally, I'm looking for the cheapest way in. Class G is a power to weight of 130hp/tonne or less - which a turbocharged Peugeot 106 Diesel falls into easily.

So, I'm having to add interior to my car to enter Road Series Production. A roll cage isn't required, however I think it'll be wise to fit at least a half cage.

I'm now back to square one, trying to find a turbocharger that'll give me a wide power band.

In addition to all of this, I'm going through the process of becoming a Motorsport UK (formerly MSA) Scrutineering Official. So I'm going to be quite busy next year!

Now to make a list of parts I need!

I stripped my car out so much it now has 49/49 weight distribution.

          Thanks!

It should be good fun too, although I've found some hidden rust inside my sills :/ so I'll need to to a proper inspection with my borescope and see the extent if it's worth fixing for me or sourcing another shell.

Okay I need help from anyone who can give it.

I need to choose a turbo.

1: it needs to be cheap and 2 it needs to be suitable for my engine.

I need to produce about 140hp.

            Halp.

Okay so I'm going out the box here, and I've bought something on AliExpress instead of a turbo.

              HONK

It was an impulse buy and I'll really need to think outside the box to get it mounted up.

I feel like this project may grow some extra arms and legs, but hey it wouldn't be a project otherwise! The clock is also ticking for me to get it ready D:

SC12/SC14? pulley alignment/size/belt length/tension very important hey! Right sized injectors/tune too! Then max flow/min back pressure exhaust!

Oh err no it's an AMR500.

I no literally nothing about them, so it'll be full on learning curve!

so it's a 1500cc diesel, and the AMR is 500cc/rev with a max continous speed of 16000rpm. I'll have a massive intercooler to keep things cool and the belt length will be tiny as I can get the charger right next to the crank pulley. Should work okay.

Don't worry about injectors and tune I'm handy with mechanical diesel pumps!

The exhaust does worry me a little bit, I might need to make my own exhaust manifold with slightly larger diameter pipes.

If you have any advice about superchargers let me know, like I said I'm totally clueless.

I have sought knowledge from the all powerful Yoda and some Peugeot friends who've had superchargers on their cars.

Basically, I've f*cked up. My charger is going to be too small for high engine speeds. so it'll only be useful to me at lower engine RPMS.

I guess I'll just have to play about when it arrives, I can't seem to find a compressor map for this charger anywhere!

Why didn't I just stick to what I know? (GT1544 turbo) because that's how we make progress!

Okay so some progress has been made, I ordered my Supercharger last week, it left Hong Kong on Thursday the 24th and arrived at my desk on Monday at 10am! how fast was that, I didn't even pay extra! import fee was only 22.22 as well. Ideal, total cost was 186.59.

Anyways, I've had a major setback (because I now know lots more about superchargers!) and that I can't make the required boost/power I want. I'm gonna do it anyway.

there were no details of the pulley size from the seller, when it arrived I measured it to be 58mm. My crank pulley is 150 so that's a ratio of 2.59. Which with a 500cc charger and my VE engine assumption would generate about 0.2psi of VACUUM lol

I spent literally hours looking for a new pulley and finally bought one, which is 48.5mm in diameter. This should net me about 7psi? whatever the boost isn't important, the flow is.

Spare engine is sitting in the garage so I plan to start mocking it up this weekend.

I've also purchased a tacho - since this car has a dirty great big clock instead of a rev counter. and an intercooler (air-water) since I'll only be using the car for sprints and the car is a low power to weight I don't want ANY additional aerodynamic drag. So I'll be installing a 5 litre water tank, pump and some pipes - I've got some sums to do as there will be a maximum amount of time I can drive hard before the water becomes too hot.

I just hope the Lucas fuel pump can cope...

Okay so bloody cold today, my diesel heater ran out of diesel too! had a small fan heater aimed at my face and just worked with that.

Got the charger mounted, the brackets are needing strengthened a little bit as there's wobbly side to side - that's the direction you don't want wobble as it throws belts off!

My charger pulley is off alignment by 1 rib but the smaller pulley I've ordered is a 7 rib pulley so it will sit on the middle 5 ribs of that pulley which is absolutely fine.

                        Anyways, picture time!

and finally I have a fabric measuring tape so I know roughly what belt I need, I will be changing the pulley so I'll wait just in case it moves too much

                            Thanks man

I've got a standard 1994 Red S1 Rallye being restored, I'll maybe do some videos of that rebuild, it's mostly complete.

Yes, please do when you get a chance! I had a '96 106 Rallye many moons ago and would love to get one again, it was the most fun car I've ever owned! Would be very interesting to see a resto thread on one.

I did actually have one on this forum but it got lost and I don't have a lot of the pictures any more. So it's mostly complete lol
