Good vids, just watched both Looks like you've got a great setup there. If you had a hoist too I'd be all over that (maybe you do! ). I'd love a drill press, I don't have one but I sure imagine that if I did, I'd sure have a hard time living without it.
I can't weld, but one tip I did pick up from a mechanic doing some bits to my car was to disconnect the battery terminal (positive) if working on a car, since you're feeding power into the car chassis via your welding equipment.
You speak pretty favorably of the flux / gasless wire, is there any shortcomings of gasless that should be taken into account when buying a welder? How does it fare with different materials, is the weld as of good quality, etc.
Enjoyed it once again mate. Keep them coming. Maybe you could do a series of videos that show people how each of the basic tools work? I think people would get a lot out of it and we could make a place on the forum for them all to go. Whaddya think?
I've done a little bit of electric arc welding, and a shiteload of soldering but know nothing about Mig, Tig etc and what the differences are. Sam if you were able to cover that at some point it'd be great The gas vs. gasless wire was quite interesting!
rake, you'll probably hate me for this, but we used to have a drill press at home! ...tho, past tense is the relevant thing there
Good video mate, we're actually in the market for a welder too at the moment since there's multiple old cars in this house and being able to do rust repairs would be handy.
hey rake yeah with the flux core gasless wire the welder dosent look as good as the gas wire with the gas its clean and you can pretty much pait right over the top without any blemeshers coming through as with flux core its better to grind down your weld so its nice and shiny but onley it you beveled the piece before
cheers sam be sure to check out my new vids coming every week
