The nikon D3100 is a great piece of kit for beginners. I use one myself and if you could be bothered looking back on previous pages you'll be able to see my work and all of them were taken with the D3100 with the same kit lenses that came with yours (18-55 and 55-200). If you're just starting out as well (which I will assume since you got the D3100) then my suggestion is to read the instruction manual. I know it's boring but it will help out a lot. I learned a lot about how to shoot just by reading the manual. And it is correct that the 55-200 is not the best lens but it certainly does the job well (for me at least). All up the D3100 really is a great kit especially for the price. It is not impossible to get pro quality pictures with them if you know what you're doing. n_n

They really are quite a nice camera. I haven't had a chance to look through the manual. But I had a quick flick through the inbuilt guide, helps so much. I'm going to try getting a few nicer shots at C4C this weekend, then shop them down to something really nice.....hopefully

If you'd be able to elaborate that question maybe someone if not me will be able to answer that mate, just sounds so vague. Sorry.

Then you just set your shutter to be open for a long time and let the moving traffic do the job.

Yeah sorry thats what I ment thanks. Can that be done on any digital camera? I don't know a lot about photography but I want to get into it.

Some point and shoots will allow exposure control. Otherwise if you can set your camera to "long exposure" or night landscape or something along those lines. Just make sure to use a tripod or some other form of support.

This pic really looks nice... HDR? And is the vignetting put there on purpose, or is it because of the lens? If it's because of the lens then I think that's pretty bad, but none the less it does look good with the vignetting on it. Good job... n_n

Thanks! The vignetting was added in post and HDR feel was also done in post. haha definitely not from the lens!
