  • Your Camera Gear!

Nice! You won't be able to use it on the 1Ds though, as it's only for APS-C cameras.

I'm able to use it, but I won't get to use the full frame of the 1Ds. No one mounts non FF lenses on FF bodies for some reason?

I remember reading somewhere that the EF-S lenses extend too far back in a full frame body, and it stops the mirror flipping up. I guess that's why no one does it! Haha. So you won't be able to use it at all

That's EF-S from Canon only. But I have my way of mounting it on FF and still allowing for normal operation.

The Sigma I bought will be fine except that it won't fill the 1Ds sensor fully.

Ah, I see, so are you using some kind of adaptor?

Nah. It's ripping out the plastic protector that protrudes from the rear end.

Only Canon EFs lenses through. All other brands are able to mount to FF only with them not filling up the FF image.

                    • Kit update: I have a 7D now, huge upgrade from my 1100D. Will post some photos after my trip from NSW In a few weeks. Also, Lightroom 4, opinions? I have CS5 at the moment, but was wondering if Lightroom would be worth playing around with.

                        • photo-newbie here :3

                          I recently bought a Canon t3i (600D) and the kit 18-55mm lens

I'm looking into purchasing a 50mm prime, and I'm still looking for a camera bag (if anyone has any recommendations, I'd love to hear them )
Also I'm open to any lens recommendations (3rd party or not)

                          (warning: shitty cellphone pic )

                          • For a general purpose prime, I prefer 35mm on a crop body such as your 600D, a 50mm is an effective telephoto (because of the reduced field of view) and may not be as versatile. And of course, if you're getting prime try to get as wide as possible within your budget.

                            • Speaking of 50mm lens', I'm after some advice -

My wife has a D80 and is wanting a 50mm 1.4 for Christmas.
Been doing some research and there are so many out there! My current options seem to be:

                              AF 50mm 1.4 D
                              AF-S 50mm 1.4 D
                              AF 50mm 1.4 G
                              AF-S 50mm 1.4 G

I believe the D80 has it's own internal motor so do we really need the 'S'? I know it's alot quieter and quicker but it's a hellavalot more expensive!
From my readings, the D seems to be superior to the G as well?

Anyone have any experience with these?

                              Cheers
