I bought a Pentax K-01 a few months ago, there are still a few deals about on them (get the DA40 XS lens rather than the zoom, it's much better). It uses the same sensor and batteries as their K-5 but a live view LCD and no viewfinder.

I know "proper" photographers regard such things as toys for amateurs but it actually has a few benefits. I find that it makes manual focus lenses much easier to use and it's great for shooting at low angles without having to lie in the mud. You can see your focus point moving fore and aft in a scene with faster lenses, for example. I've never been able to see that level of detail in a viewfinder.

Sure, it's not as good as a viewfinder on very sunny days and it's not as good for action photography or longer lenses (why I also have the K-5, also that's weather sealed which the K-01 isn't) but I'm happy with it as a second body/take-it-everywhere camera. Pentax have a large back catalogue of small, fast prime lenses which suit it perfectly.

I hate the one on my Fijifilm, It's horrid

            • Photography is something that I am interested in getting into however I will be starting completely and utterly at ground zero; I know almost nothing at this point. My current camera is just a Fujifilm FinePix S2950 bridge but I hope to get a DSLR for my 21st - The only problem I am really having with the Fujifilm is a lack of control over the camera; I learn best by just getting stuck in and it is really restricting my ability to do that.

I have a huge love for older cameras and have got a small (well...) collection, all sorts of stuff. In no particular order (56k warning lol):

This is the camera that started my collection, a 1980's Praktica B100. My father bought it new in the 1980's and it sat in a drawer for years and years until I pulled it out.

Polaroid Land Camera 1000 (1979-1985) Pro-tip: Don't catch yourself in front of one of these flashes, they're bloody bright!

Polaroid Lightmixer Sun 630 LMP (catchy!) I still have the orgonal box and instructions for this one

Chonon 806SM film camera (?-?) Looks like an old police speed gun huh?

Illford Envoy (1953-1960) This one is pretty buggered

              Kodak Six-20 Brownie E (1947-1957)

              Kodak Popular Brownie (1937-1943)

Coronet Rex (?-?) I think this is the oldest camera I have.

I bought the Kodak Popular Brownie on Ebay for about £12, the Chinon 806 SM for £19.98, the Praktica was my dads and the rest were 100% free

              • ^I started with one of those Fujifilm S2950's as well, upgraded to a Canon 1100D to get started in dslr's and havent looked back.

The other week i got another lens, just a basic Canon 50mm f1.8 for photography at car meets, was cheap but is an amazing lens for the price

Vintage folding 6x6/6x9 cameras next to a more modern (mid 70's) mamiya m645.

Main core kit (my 810 was used to take it, so dad's 800 is in shot)

The RZ67 is without a doubt my favourite camera. It goes most places with me, even to car meets.
