    Just another quick update for new readers. Up to page 11, this thread is all about my testing. At page 11, the guy that designed and built this stuff joined the conversation so if you have any questions for him, you'll want to go there. Of course, you'll want to read all the discussion leading up to that for a lot of answers as well.

    Just an update now that the testing is done. My conclusion is that this thing worked like a charm! Now, this doesn't mean all the other crap out there isn't still crap. It is. But now there's something coming that actually produces boost and adds power, and that's very good indeed!

    Read through this thread for all the questions and answers, and go here for the entire testing saga:

    Alright then... let the flame war begin.

    I've been working up to this for a little while now, so by all means have a look at the Toronto Mazda3 Forum for the ongoing discussion that led us up to today. I haven't done proper testing yet, but I think I've done enough to get your interest here. I posted above in the stickY about these things, but I think it got mostly ignored. I didn't bother starting a new thread since I figured I'd wait until I've got something to show.

    and just for you the boys have already done it!


    since you have a electric motor attached to the back of a turbo does your motor spin to around 200 000+ rpm if it doesn't your not going to get squat!

    here and effeciency plot for a small garret


    turbo and their cousin centrifugal supercharges similar concept spin at incredibly high speeds. centrifugal superchargers have insane amounts of gearing to turn the 1-9k engine speed into the 200K+ compressor speed

      Good idea on starting a new thread for this. It's getting very interesting indeed... I'll await the results when you get around to properly testing it.

      Hell, if you can prove it gives some sort of decent power gain (>=10% power gain), I'll look at buying one.

      EDIT: As a note to everyone else, have a good read of Wild Weasel's site before passing judgement... This electric supercharger MAY (and huge, huge emphasis on MAY) actually do something. He seems to be as big a sceptic as I am about these things, haha.

        My next step is going to be to dig in and figure out where the zip tie goes to disable the M45. It's been 8 years since I've had to do that.

            Fair point, that's one of the reasons why I'm still somewhat sceptical. But we'll wait and see...

              FWIW, while I haven't done what I'll consider proper testing yet... what we have so far is about 3 lbs of boost ON TOP of what my M45 used to do on it's own through the meat of the power band, and UNGODLY NOISE when manually activating the blower with the hood open.

              What I'm taking from this is that it so far it's capable of pushing more air in than my 200+ hp supercharged 2.4L was drawing in on it's own. That's the result that made me feel it's time to start a new thread here.

              There will be proper testing to come over the next few weeks. This is just the first time I've turned it on and thought I'd share.

                  Don't just quote half the post I did read your site while yes the electric motor is powering a centrifugal compressor unless you get that this spinning to the speeds I mentioned it becomes just another fan you need to overcome the airs tendency to want to go backwards also using it in conjunction with a purpose built supercharger proves nothing esp if its pre charger backside your just removing pumping ineffeciency. So from what I've gathered from your most recent post is yes you've got the cfm but no evidence the electric supercharger is creating boost. To truly test the elec charger you need to rove your other supercharger and test its capability on its own

                    Firstly, I DID quote your whole post. I just posted before your edit.

                    It's worth mentioning that I'm on your side here. I've been fighting the scams for years now, and if this one doesn't work any better than the rest of them, I'll be the first to say it. That's what we're looking to find out.

                    The reason I mentioned above that I haven't really done proper testing yet is because I've got a plan for all that and it's spelled out on my site. I WILL be disabling the supercharger to test this new one on its own. The M45 has a bypass on it to allow it to spin freely without producing boost. I'll be using that for the testing.

                    I'll be honest in that I don't fully understand what you just said about removing pumping efficiency and what not. My laymans conclusion after today is that if the M45 produces 7 psi... and now with the e-blower it's making over 10 psi... then the e-blower must be doing something of value. But again... let's not read too much into that. It's just my first time turning it on and hardly a controlled test of any sort.

                      after watching some of his videos it seems this system is designed to be used like nos at full throttle what would be good is if he developed it to vary the charger speed by throttle so that say there is always 5 psi available from idle to redline

                          That'd be possible (assuming the supercharger itself does anything), there are plenty of brushless motor controllers out there. Some kind of feedback controller would make it so that it would provide a constant amount of boost, rather than heaps at low RPM and petering off towards redline.

                              I'm impressed by the effort with rational and lateral thinking on approaching this. It's a good write up and I'm keen to see some results. Regardless if it works or not, the results will be just as interesting. Kudos to the effort mate! Will be definitely in for updates.
