  • Kei car diagnostics?

    Hi

What are people using for diagnostics on their Kei cars.

I have a 2005 Suzuki Kei B Turbo Special. I understand that Japan uses JOBD protocol. I also understand that not all JOBD scanners will work.

    Thanks, Andy.

Regular ELM style chips should be able to read them.

I use Torque app and a generic bluetooth reader for my Suzuki Alto.

It'll work in exactly the same way as a UK car, all of which are EOBD.
I stripped my car out so much it now has 49/49 weight distribution.

      Thank you.
I will try Torque. If that don't work, then i will try it with another adapter.

Yeah all the common ones should work. There's nothing particularly special about JOBD. It's still conforming to the standard OBD protocols. It's probably got additional support for Kanji or something hahaha. All your regular codes and live data reading etc should all still work.

I tried my adaptor with SZ Viewer the other day and that did not work. I have Torque but never thought to check that. I will have time on friday to test it. If it does not work, i will order another adapter to try.
I want to check its standard boost setting. I think that is on Torque. The car is very clean and on super low miles, that i don't want to modify it to much, but a little extra boost might fun. Being a automatic, i don't want to go over the top on boost.

Tried my adapter with Torque and got nothing. I will order a different adapter and see if that works.

              Yes it can be fussy

just make sure your adapter is newer than ELMv1.4 and you should be good for live data.

Successful update. As stated in first post, 660cc JDM kei cars are JOBD as they were never destined outside of Japan.

Reference for others in the same situation, I used a genuine Vgate adapter and SZviewer on android. Torque app would not work on the two adapters i have.

Any information on an adapter that works with Torque on these cars would be great

MHR1294... Yes some elm units won't work. The cheaper ones wont cover enough protocols.

The SZviewer works great but working Torque gauges would be great.
